Call for CWLC Board Nominations
CWLC (Child Welfare League of Canada) is requesting nominations to the Board of Directors for a term beginning in March 2011. There are two (2) vacancies to be filled.
The vacancies to be filled are:
- Newfoundland and Labrador (1 position)
- Yukon (1 position)
The Governance Committee, composed of Past-President Jane Matheson and Board Members - Jean-Pierre Hotte, Marion MacIver and past board member Michael Udy, is guided by several criteria as it prepares a slate of candidates for office at CWLC’s Annual General Meeting.
These include:
A. Geographic Location - There is to be representation for each province and territory. Currently vacancies exist in Newfoundland and Labrador, and Yukon.
B. CWLC Membership Composition *
- Direct service providers, eg. child welfare, child and youth mental health, youth justice, children’s developmental services, residential facilities, mental health
- Provincial and territorial departments of child, youth & family services
- “Provincial” organizations (eg. Nova Scotia Council for the Family, Ontario Association of Children’s Aid Societies)
- Schools of social work and research facilities
* Note: The nominee must be affiliated with a CWLC member organization.
C. Current and Future Strategic Direction - Board members should possess skills and expertise which enhance the current and future strategic direction of CWLC.
D. Gender Balance
E. Previous or current involvement with committees of the Board.
F. Ethnic Diversity
These criteria enable the Committee to put forward a slate of Board members which can effectively govern CWLC as it carries out its mandate.
Your nominee will be given careful consideration as our Committee continues its work.
If you have previously nominated an individual and would like to re-nominate them you must submit a new nomination form.
