RBC Supports CWLC 2010 Youth Achievement Award
The Child Welfare League of Canada (CWLC) is pleased to announce that it has partnered with RBC Foundation for its 2010 Youth Achievement Award. Now named the RBC Youth Achievement Award, the prize recognizes the contributions of youth (under the age of 21) who are in care or who have left care, and have demonstrated commitment to self-improvement, achieved improvement in a specific area, provided a positive contribution to other youth, and have contributed to the positive image of youth.
The RBC Youth Achievement Award offers a new education bursary of $2,000 in addition to travel and accommodations for the youth and a chaperone to attend the awards ceremony in Ottawa on February 24, 2011. The bursary can be used for full-or part-time studies in a qualifying program, including apprenticeships and other programs offered by trade schools, colleges, universities, CEGEPs, and other institutions certified by the Minister of Human Resources and Social Development.
“RBC Foundation and CWLC share a common purpose: the health and wellbeing of children and youth across Canada,” said Peter Dudding, CWLC chief executive officer. “We are therefore extremely pleased to be partnering with RBC Foundation on our premier award, the RBC Youth Achievement Award.”
“RBC and CWLC are dedicated to promoting the well‐being and protection of vulnerable young people and we take great pride in celebrating those young people who overcome obstacles such as trauma, mental illness and other personal challenges,” says Frances Bedford-Jones, Manager, Strategic Programs, RBC Foundation.
