CWLC Commemorates National Child Day

Canada’s National Child Day is held annually on November 20, commemorating the date Canada adopted the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). The Convention spells out the basic human rights to which children under the age of 18 are entitled.

It is a day to celebrate children and bring awareness to their rights and their needs.

“This date is of the utmost importance,” said Peter Dudding, CEO of the Child Welfare League of Canada (CWLC). “It’s a day to support Canada’s children, voice our concerns about the problems facing our most vulnerable children and youth, and educate all Canadians about their rights and responsibilities.”

CWLC would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our members and partners for their dedication and hard work in helping Canada’s children.

There is strength in numbers – together we can make a difference in the lives of Canada’s vulnerable children and youth.
