The current crisis in Haiti has raised concerns about the state of vulnerable children and youth in the country and Canadian international adoption efforts. Yesterday, CWLC sent a letter to the Honourable Jason Kenney, Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism, to outline our concerns about the plight of children in Haiti. CWLC strongly recommends the creation of a Ministerial Working Group comprised of Government and Non-Government experts in child welfare to provide technical advice and support on these sensitive issues. CWLC is pleased to share the contents of the letter. Click here to read the full letter. |

On November 19 – 20, over 100 child and youth mental health stakeholders will gather at the Château Laurier in Ottawa for the 2nd National Invitational Symposium on Child and Youth Mental Health. Getting in the Right Door at the Right Time is the theme for a symposium that aims to address access to mental health services for children, youth and their families. The 2nd National Invitational Symposium on Child and Youth Mental Health provides an opportunity for those working in all sectors in child and youth mental health to discuss next steps in implementation of a mental health strategy. As Canada moves towards hope and renewal the common vision for those working towards this strategy is to make sure children and youth remain a priority.
