This is an excellent pamphlet about the signs of child abuse and methods of positive parenting that can help prevent it. This was designed as part of a public education campaign directed by Ontario Children’s Aid Societies and was printed as an insert for the newspaper The Sun.

Boost for Kids

These are factsheets that explain child abuse and give advice to professionals caring for children who are possibly being abused or have been abused. Boost for Kids is a Toronto-based agency associated with the Toronto Child Abuse Centre that develops programs and services for the prevention and elimination of violence against children.

Physical Punishment and Children’s Health

This is a brief article by Joan Durrant explaining the dangers of physical punishment and makes some policy recommendations. She reminds us that one of the reasons for the continued prevalence of child abuse is the societal legitimacy that is accorded it.
